Question for those with the DVD...

I've been dying to see this movie for a long time and I want to buy the DVD, I found some on ebay but I'm a little skeptical as to whether or not they're imports or copies because they aren't very expensive, and I thought this DVD was rare and out of print...

So, anyone who owns the Anchor Bay DVD, is it really rare or has the price on it gone down? And I was also wondering if there are any good bonus materials along with it? Thanks for your help!

Anchor Bay has a twofer available - Hell Night and Fade To Black. You can get that one if you're worried about getting a bootleg. However, I do not know if the twofer has the same extras as the original single-movie release (trailers, TV spots, audio commentaries).

The original is out of print but is easily obtained through Amazon. I bought mine from a used movie shop for under five dollars and I've seen other copies as well. It's not that rare/htf like some of AB's other OOP titles such as The Car.

If you're picky about getting the anamorphic widescreen version get the original one with the cover that differs from the one shown here. AB released this movie twice - first time in 1998 as an unenhanced widescreen and the second time in 2002 as anamorphic widescreen. Again, I do not know about the twofer concerning enhancement.

Thanks, I can't seem to find it at any used movie shops I've looked at, so I'm thinking of getting one from amazon.

I have the double disc with Fade to Black, and it does have all the extras mentioned above. And I got it for only five bucks at Blockbuster.

Shiny...let's be bad guys.

Can anyone tell me if the 1999 release's picture is any different than the 2002 release, or even the 2008 release? I'm mainly talking about picture clarity & sound. Does anamorphic widescreen help with picture quality when it comes to clarity? Thank you.

reply

Well, I have the 2003 Prism release, and the picture quality is awful. Looks like a VHS transfer. I wish they would remaster the film and release it on Blu-ray with lots of extras. :)
