ghost...?

when marti has a ghost of one of the family members coming towards her.... when i first saw it i presumed it was a visual trick by her uni mates outside, as it was fairly near the start..... and i thought marti's (not acting very scared) "im.... scared." reaction because she knew it was a trick....
but now im not so sure.

if it is supposed to be a ghost and linda blair is supposed to be acting "really scared" its some pretty bad acting there! also if it is supposed to be a real ghost, this one small supernatural scene seems slightly out of place in the movie for some reason....

apart from that.... hellnight certainly delivered everywhere else, a hell of a lot of cheesy fun punched with some unexpectedly effective scares and a nasty looking killer, definitely one of the best under-rated slashers out there, oh and the english girl was awesome, shame she couldnt've stuck around a bit longer!

what did you guys make of the ghost part?? strange scene indeed.

I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be one of the tricks pulled by the guys from the frat. A few moments later Peter finds the control box for locking and unlocking the door, so it would make since they wanted someone to get locked in the room with the fake ghost.

My head hurts, my teeth itch, my feet stink, and I don't love Jesus.

The ghost was one of the fratboys' scare tricks, but the whole movie is a great combo of old haunted house creepiness and suspense mixed with slasher film scares. Two favorite scenes are the shape rising up underneath the rug in the bedroom and the unidentified figure running across the road in the headlights of Seth's car as he drives back to the house with a shotgun. Small, but very creepy scenes...

This is Dorsia?

I agree with both scenes as being very creepy and effective. Also, the grunts and groans Andrew makes help add to it, especially during the chase scene in the underground tunnel.
