Remake Already Getting the Kiss of Death

Once again, Sony Pictures has decided to release the remake as a PG13. My question is, what's the point of going for a limp PG13 when you know the studio is going to release the dvd/blu-ray as "Unrated" (Prom Night, The Stepfather). Is it worth the risk of watching a movie go down in flames simply to attempt to drive up disc sells because they'll claim its Unrated? Also, is it just me or is it becoming increasingly difficult to see the differences in these versions? I didn't see The Stepfather during its theatrical run but on blu-ray, my thoughts were what got cut?

It's pretty lame that this movie is being remade. Why? So that people that remember and liked the original can see a modern day butchery of a classic movie? And most of the kids that will go and see it will probably think its lame because it will be made for cheap thrills.

You get what you pay for. Movie production company's don't want to take risks on new material so they go for a simple remake for fear of losing their shirts.
