Someone is clearly out to murder Laurie Strode and he hasn't been caught yet. They are looking all over town for him, but the most obviously placed he'd go is to the hospital to finish off Laurie.
So there being one security guard at the hospital and all the other cops out "looking" for Michael makes no sense.
How did the police know "Someone is clearly out to murder Laurie Strode "? Why wouldn't they think she was just another victim who was able to survive?
shareBecause the killer got away and was still in the town. It only seems rational to protect the survivors since Michael was after them in the first place. He almost did kill them!

Did you ever see the original Black Christmas? As amazing as that movie is, the police could've worked out what happened quite early on if they just showed common sense. You often have to overlook stuff like that to enjoy slashers.
