You misspelled "definitely".

Actually, this is my favorite, too. The comedy is sharper, the plot moves right along, and John Cleese's cameo is hysterical!

reply

this was always my favorite when i was a kid too. the script is great, grodin's hysterical. my two favorite scenes are probably john cleese and the boring wife's dinner scene ("umm umm...pig... climbing up the outside of the house") and the bicycle ride scene in the park is terrific.

I going to go watch that movie right now so I can take in all the beauty of John Cleese running around with a fire poker to attack Piggy and Kermit hiding in the closet.

I love this movie, too, and I agree about puppet vs. CGI. In fact, that's my same argument: In trying to make the creatures more realistic (by way of CGI), the make it even more apparent that they're not real. At least a puppet is something I can touch.

its so close isnt it between this and the muppets take manhatten, i think they both rule - its no coincidence is it that the 2 best muppet films had jim henson and frank oz directing! if that isnt a tribute to them i dont know what is (but i do have to say that even though with jims passing the muppets will never be what they were with him there, brian did a GREAT job with christmas carol and treasure island. so again with a henson directing - they come out right, but the others are a bit dissaponting i think - not the muppets, theyre great, just script problems!!)

and yep i hate CGI, for the titanic fine, for living things - dont even bother!

"Mine too. One of my favorite movies of any kind, ever. I just watched it again a couple months ago and was shocked to see how big an impact it had had on me. So much of what I normally say comes from this movie and I didn't even realize it."

I second that! I just watched it again a few months ago, I haven't seen it since I was little, 1984-86ish? I miss movies like this.

Ever since Jim Henson died the Muppets just haven't had that little bit of something that made them so special.

Supermodels...spoiled stupid little stick figures mit poofy lips who sink only about zemselves.

I completely agree. I still love the Muppets to this day. However, The true essence of the Muppets came from a group of genius performers that had had an irreplaceable chemistry together, and also went along with great writers. The Muppets today are still likeable, but just missing an element that the original ones had. As far as the movies, I personally like the first one best, but The Great Muppet Caper was by far the best one made from a directing point of view. It seemed to be more realistic looking and had the most creative storyline.

I watched this one and The Muppet Movie a billion times when I was younger, and just in these past couple years I started watching them again, and I loooove them even more than I did when I was younger.

I love the whole thing about Fozzie and Kermit being twins. Hehe.
