I have the dvd and it states on the back...

WHAT??...it was made in 1981....how can it be the 50th Anniversary??
Its only 26 years old.
AND it wasn't 'restored'..I could still see the dirt marks and scratches on the film.
It means the 50th anniversary of Kermit the frog. It says it on the front cover at the bottom. Disney released four Muppet movies for Kermit's anniversary. The Great Muppet Caper, Muppet Christmas Carol, Muppet Treasure Island, and The Muppet Movie.

Right because Kermit has been around since the 50's when he first appeared in Jim Henson's first muppet program "Sam and Friends".
