Don wasn't a fragile old man that could be spooked into a heart attack, or scared off of a bridge.
The ghost could scream and look rotten. Big deal.
Don't get me wrong, I really like Ghost Story. I saw it in the theater back in '81. But even then, as the final scene was unfolding, I was thinking "okay, this is indeed scary... but what's she gonna do?"
Did she really want to kill Don, or just torment him? In the book, it seems like she just wants to torment him.
shareWhich makes little sense, since it's really the four old men she seeks revenge on (I'm talking only about the movie). She caused the deaths of three of them without much ado, unless she was the cause of their nightmares. Ricky was still alive. Why focus on Don for prolonged torment? It's one of the weak points in the writing of the film.
shareWasn't Don one of their sons. If so then she was targeting their families as well.
