Does anyone know what the budget of Galaxy of Terror was? For 1981, I'm estimating 1-3 million (at that time big budget was $20 mill. -- the budget RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK). Any conflicting reports?

The budget was 2.5 million dollars, the largest to date for Corman's New World Cinema

So what is the word on this? special DVD, or just part of a 4 movie set?

If you have a code-free player with PAL/NTSC converter, there is a nice anamorphic
Italian dvd.

I prefer the British Region 0 PAL DVD.
Sure, the Itilian Region 2 DVD has higher picture & sound quality, but in order to acheive the anamorphic screen, they had to crop portions of the top & bottom of the screen. I find that unforgivable.
Plus, the British Region 0 DVD is less likely to have device conflicts with Region 1 players.

I'm pretty sure Corman says it was $700,000 to $750,000. It was not $2.5 million.
