i met erin moran and asked- - - -

i met her at a horror convention. and asked her what year they shot galaxy of terror, she claimed this was shot in 1978. I highly doubt that. cause alien was shot in 1978 and released in 79. and this was a rip off of alien no doubt, like many others. I think she wasnt quite sure on the year. I think galaxy of terror was filmed in 1980. and came out in 81.. I think alot of stars arent sure what exact year they worked on movies..

When was this?
I heard a rumor a couple of years ago that she got mad & stormed out of an autograph signing when one of her fans asked her to sign his VHS copy of GOT.

As for whether or not GOT is an Alien rip-off, some agree, while others insist that the release of GOT coincided with a number of other Alien rip-offs, & somehow ended up getting lumped in with these others simply because of it's timing.

Interestingly enough, Alien was originally green-lit by New Concorse, and many of the sets used in Galaxy of Terror were based on designs intended for Alien.

One may also note that James Cameron, who would later direct Aliens, was a unit director for Galaxy of Terror.

Normal is what people are until you get to know them

i met her in 2005. april, so i dont know when this other thing occured. but the day we met her she was charging $25 an autograph or signing. and my friend said to her $25?????? what are you? meg ryan!!!!!!!!

I got her to sign my poster of GOT along with Sid's and Robert Englund (They all appeared at the same convention in Florida) signature. She was actually happy to sign it as opposed to all the Happy Days pic she was signing all day.

You might be thinking of Taffy O'Connell since she was NOT pleased with how she was "exposed" in the film.

No offense to Ms. Moran but a mind is a terrible thing to waste and cocaine addiction can play havoc on how people remember things. Some of the same sets, costumes and props were later re-used for MUTANT/FORBIDDEN WORLD which was filmed immediately after this one finished & released in 1982. Either they mothballed the costumes and kept the sets intact for four years or Ms. Moran's memory is imprecise.

dont think thats too bad, i met sig haig at another convention and asked him what year they filmed it in, and he said 1986.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wow thats funny. how can it be filmed after it was already in the movies. cable and video..

I can say it was released in '81, and I saw it at a movie theater. It was a cool experince. A lot of people claim this is a ripoff of "Alien," but "Alien" itself could be seen as a ripoff of "It - The Terror From Beyond Space."

"All roads in the ALIEN franchise lead back to Roger Corman." Check out his QUEEN OF BLOOD and tell me that also isn't the basic premise for ALIEN's script.

ALIEN was a rehasing of Mario Bava's PLANET OF THE VAMPIRES.

Not saying you're both wrong, just that there's probably a lot of "borrowed" elements, shall we say, from this movie and that but PLANET OF THE VAMPIRES is the key element in the brew. It's basically ALIEN sans the alien critter.

On a side note CREATURE (AKA Titan Find) is basicially a update of PLANET OF THE VAMPIRES with an ALIEN inspired theme. If you don't have these movies on DVD you should get them ASAP, if only so you can host a B-movie night to inflict them ALL on your friends back to back.

It makes sense that GoT borrowed set ideas from the original scripting and designs of Alien.

Alien was to have a giant alien pyramid on LV-426. The young aliens were carnivorous, but eventually grew up into developed, sophisticated space philosophers.

That's where the fear pyramid in GoT came from, apparently. If you check out the pictures of the Alien pyramid idea, you can definitely see where GoT got the idea.

And supposedly IT, THE TERROR FROM BEYOND SPACE was lifted from A.E. Van Vogt's stories VOYAGE OF THE SPACE BEAGLE and BLACK DESTROYER. I think I recall reading that Van Vogt let it go on IT, THE TERROR FROM BEYOND SPACE but supposedly did sue Fox over ALIEN. Never heard anymore about it. They probably settled out of court.

It was shot in March, 1981, and had a limited release in the USA in October the same year. It debuted in other countries in 1982.
