On the Internet you can come across photos taken from the movie, showing Taaffe O'Connell (character, Dameia) lying nude on her side, covered in goo. Now I know she was wearing a tan-colored uniform. So what's all that torn black material underneath her? She wasn't wearing anything black, nor as far as I can tell, was she wearing any black underclothes. I don't think she was wearing anything underneath.
It appears that actress Taaffe O'Connell went commando underneath her uniform. This proved practical for the upcoming giant worm stripping sequence; it reduced the amount of clothing to be forcibly removed. According to official accounts today, the original film contained a little more graphic content. But Roger Corman had to edit some out in order to retain a R rating. The question is what that deleted content showed. There are no deleted scenes unfortunately, in the July 20, 2010 digitally remastered dvd. But ah, in the July 20, 2010 dvd release, an interview of one of the special effects directors revealed that what was cut were a few snippets showing the giant worm caterpillar doing some humping motions on top of Taaffe. Also cut were a few snippets showing Taaffe expressing forcible sexual arousal. So if we were worried that additional nudity was cut, don't worry. The special effects director added that all the deleted rape scene bits and pieces were trashed which means it's gone forever. But it looks like we didn't miss much.
"Corman looked at the one 4-frame clip he was holding, and went off on the MPAA. Something like "You mean to tell me one 4-frame clip was all it took to go from X to R! I don't believe these MPAA guys!" Corman then just walked out without waiting for Kizer to explain that there were other snips too."
Does this really surprise anybody? The MPAA used to go ballistic on horror and sc-fi films in the 1980s. I remember a movie called "Angel Heart" had to be cut by ONE SECOND to get an R rating! Then BOTH versions were released in video! Insane.
I often watched that scene specifically...I mean you know for scientific reasons, but I think I can remember seeing Taaffe wearing some beige color underwear. But she was nude after that.
