cripes, there are TWO VHS RELEASES of this

I bought Final Exam a few years ago, and the company was "Nelson Entertainment". The cover had the outline of the killer, and it was at night with the campus behind it. I thought it was a kick ass cover.

This VHS personally blew me away the picture, audio was so good.

Then yesterday in a video store I found another copy, appearing to be an earlier one, the company was "embassy". The cover is different than the other one, quite dumb, with the girl holding a knife and the killer lying on the ground.

I'm going to watch the latter to compare them and see if there's any scenes added, cut out, etc.

no differences. one just has cooler cover art.

The Embassy release is the original, from 1983, and will look worse than the later re-issue with the outline of the killer (an obvious Friday the 13th ripoff BTW).

Yeah, the first time I saw this film I rented it from a video store and it had the crappy cover of the girl with the knife over the killer, but the copy I bought from online has the cool cover.

Ignoring isn't the same as ignorance, you have to work at it.

I have both covers, they are the same.

I liked the black cover, thats the one I always saw floating around here in Houston:) Although like I said - I have both covers, just because I had to have it:)

The cover with the killer and the university in the background is what appeared in newspaper ads (Some may past the test, God help the rest) and the Embassy cover with the girl over the killer, knife in hand, is the cover I always saw.

I liked the one from the newspaper better. I thought the Embassy cover might be a spoiler.

I must be the only one who prefers the original Embassy cover. As cool as the original poster art is (which was used on the Nelson edition), I just love the simplicity of some of those early 80s VHS covers. :D
