Soundtrack

This movie has the most beautiful instrumental music. And the theme song always makes me remember this movie. There is a "voice over" of Martin Hewitt & Brooke Sheilds. He mentions the name "Sonja" does anyone know who he is refering to? I don't remember this person in the movie, but perhaps the book?
I have the cassette soundtrack from the 1980's.

Yeah, I agree. One of these I'm gonna buy the soundtrack...

There is an alternate scene that was not shown on the US videocassette. I too have the soundtrack (On LP, and then found on CD in the late 1990s.) I saw this scene on French television (I live in Montreal). It looks like he is in a mental institution and a woman "Sonja" is playing the guitar, as he tells his story. Maybe this scene was only shown in foreign prints, as someone else on IMBD saw this scene in Spanish on You Tube. If it ever gets released on DVD, this scene should be included as an Alternative ending.

That interesting about the woman playing guitar in the mental institution. I just watched the U.S. version, and there was no such scene on my VHS tape.

I have the soundtrack on vinyl also. I have to say I've always found the theme song by Diana Ross and Lionel Richie rather annoying, but I like the score of this film.
