One of Lauter's men that gets shot at the cabin is Uncle Leo from Seinfeld.

Great Call.

Wits are what make us men

I noticed him in the Outlaw Josey Wales too, so he got it from Eastwood and Bronson. He never said "Hello" in either movie though.

reply

"JERRY!! HELLLLLOOO!!" Gotta lovethat line!

reply

Yeah, Uncle Leo even got the shaft (no part of zee German gold) by Clint
Eastwood in "Kelly's Heroes."

reply

"Look Liiige , I got me the Josey Wales"

reply

"I always wan't to face down one of these big PISTOL FIGHTERS!"

Lesser's character, Bill Lewis, does not get shot at the cabin. He is the one who kills Clarence and Deak toward the end of the movie to rob the gold from their teeth. This is toward the end of the movie.

Len Lesser gets killed by the cabin. The character of Bill Lusk aka The Mad Trapper is played by Harry Beckman. Don't try and correct Bronson diehards dolphin dude.

My apologies bneal dude, I did not know mortgagemanmike was a Bronson diehard. My mistake about the identity of Lesser in the film. My error was due to not correctly hearing Deak and Clarence when they said his name. They said Lusk apparently, but it sounded like they said Lewis to me. I didn't think the character really looked like Lesser, but thought it could be possible. Since I thought this character was called Lewis, I never questioned it. Now, I'll try to find a copy of the movie and see it again. It's one of my favorite movies, but been a while since I saw it last.

BTW, Lusk may have been The Mad Trapper in the movie, but in reality Albert Johnson himself was The Mad Trapper of Rat River. I read a book about him years ago called The Mad Trapper of Rat River. Very different in many ways from how Hollywood did it. The true story IMO would have made an equally interesting movie if not more so. The book by Dick North came out in a new edition in 2005. I either read the '72 or '76 edition. It is well worth reading if you have not done so.

I'll check it out. Sorry if I came off like a dick. I get touchy about Bronson flicks. On another note, I've read articles about Albert Johnson, but no books yet. I hear they are still trying to find out who the hell is was using DNA. If you want a copy of the movie, they are for sale on ioffer.com. I bought one and its pretty good quality.

Thanks for that. No worries amigo. As I think about the shootout at the cabin, I think I can picture Len Lesser's character now in my mind. Right before Charley Rat made his ill fated rush to the cabin, saying he was going to get Johnson's scalp, he glanced over at another one of the trappers, who nodded his agreement or approval. Was that Lesser?

reply

I can't remember for sure, but I think he's shot in the head before that.

reply

I just watched this movie and he is shot in the face with bird shot, blinded, and shot in the back. He definitely died by the cabin. Oh and I noticed it was Uncle Leo too! But yeah, no "Jerry! Hello!" I know where the confusion came from. One of the characters that joins later on is named Bill Lewis (or Loose).
