Great Levergun Action Film

This is consistently rated as one of the greatest shootout films on the gun forums, and the reputation is well deserved. It's not really a Western, more of "Northern," like Max Brand's "Masterman" novel. Well worth picking up. The DVD transfer and remaster is first rate. Bronson's character makes the Savage 99 sing.

Agreed. Also, when was the last time you saw a Krag-Jorgensen carbine, or sporterized SMLE in a Hollywood production?

I still have to look into a DVD of this: my VHS copy is getting pretty worn.

Because of this movie I went looking for and found (then purchased) a sporterized SMLE Mk III* and eventually a Webley Mk VI. The selection of firearms was well done. An accurate representation of what you would find up there (Yukon) in 1931.

I enjoyed it a lot as well.
