I was watching it on youtube a while ago, but the version with english subtitles doesn't seem to be there anymore.
I got up to the part where they were thrwoing up all over each other on the bed, then I had to leave.

After the intense withdrawl scene, which goes on for a long time, they do get clean. It lasts for about 5 minutes, when they visit the train station, thinking they can be around dope without using it. They wind up in the toilets shooting up and from there, the film really becomes a downward spiral into hell.
What breaks Christiane is the death of her best friend Babsi. Some die, no one gets out; a "happy ending" is vaguely hinted at for christiane, but in real life Christiane Felsherinow struggles with drug addiction to this day. (Her last arrest for possession was only about a year ago as of this post, in Germany.)
The withdrawal scene went on for about a night, they do get clean. Within a few days they visit their friends in the Zoo Station who immediately were able to pick up that Christiane and Detlef were clean. However, junkies cannot stand to be around "straight" (people who don't use dope) people for very long. While Christiane and Detlef vowed at first never to use again, they also don't want to lose their friends so they resolve, thinking that they can just "do a shot once in a while" and never get readdicted; but they find out that there are some things that even the strongest will cannot overcome. Which leads to more drugs, more prostitution for both Christiane and Detlef. Detlef meets a wealthy man who starts out as just a pick-up but that apparently becomes a relationship and Christiane is mortified and repulsed by it as well as insanely jealous. She realizes that Detlef has also lied to her. Again she gets fed up but lost in a tangle of her confusion, the shock of reading about the death of her friend Babsi, rejection by her mother, abandonment by her sister Sabina, this time picks up a sadomasochist, whips him savegly to earn the money for her last fix in which she shoots and then passes out in a public toilet. Arrangements were made by her mother and aunt and she goes to live in Hamburg where she gets clean and the epilogue of the movie states that she has been clean for 18 months yet still thinks about Detlef, still very much in love.
