How come when he gets shot and killed at the end we don't see him returning to human form that shows he wasn't a werewolf John Landis left it up to the viewers to conclude if David was suffering from PTSD and was all in his mind or he really was a werewolf .

Well we didn't him returning to human form see it shows he wasn't a werewolf it was all in his mind PTSD.

We see the nurse talking to the werewolf, then shots fired and next the dead body of David. No PTSD implied unless the audience suffered from PTSD.
