Newman was 56 at the time, Sally 35...just couldn't believe the romantic part of this movie. I recall Sally Fields played opposite Joanne Woodward, Paul's wife, on a television show about multiple personalities...ie..."The 3 faces of Eve" and Sally was a teenager and now she was playing a love interest to Joanne's husband. Now i recall, the tv movie was "Sybil".

Gallagher is conspicuously older than Carter; I could cite numerous reasons why she's attracted to older, powerful men, but let's just say it's a good career move, as long as she doesn't end up as shark-food. I'm pretty sure Gallagher wasn't trying to be convincing for your sake, just for hers. She is portrayed as inexperienced, though she certainly gets kudos for enthusiasm.
shareIf you can't buy 56 and 35 getting together in a movie, how in the hell do you deal with the real world around you? Have you honestly never seen a pairing like that? There are plenty of couples out there where one is in their 40s/50s and the other is in their ~early 20s~. Some people care about things other than age.
