Good movie, but Who was the killer?

Like father like son? crime without punishment? Why a suicidal Terry?
Sidney Pollack had his reasons, but where the truth lies?

From the scene at the softball game, I got the impression that Uncle Santos was somehow involved, but has an airtight alibi. Gallagher knows this, but isn't saying anything.
The scene where the union illegally shut down his warehouse for longshoreman was indicative of this as well.

mikuhgt, I agree with your take on Teresa's suicide. Melinda Dillon plays her role well. Pollack does an excellent job of showing us her anguish.

Michael Gallagher (Paul Newman) and Teresa have a close friendship between a man and a woman that is not often portrayed in movies.

Sally Field is very good as Megan Carter, the reporter who gets it all wrong and later feels guilty.

Who killed the union leader? We don't care. That's not what the movie is about. Maybe it was the same people who killed Jimmie Hoffa.

So if the news media is guilty in this movie that explains, Hoffa, Watergate, JFK,
Jr.(Johns) brother, Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and the rest of the most powerful people alive.

I always thought that the telephone company killed JFK. HAH
