If not GAH, what show was this from???

For almost 30 years now I've had this kinda hazy memory of a certain TV show episode I saw as a kid in the very early 80s:

I think it begins with a guy, probably a reporter, arriving at some run down place... an auto repair shop, a junkyard, something like that. He goes up to a strange man who seems to be the only one working there and says something like "Hi, do you mind if I ask you some questions?" The man he's speaking to is a tall and skinny w/ dark hair, ugly, dirty, and has a BIZARRE accent which makes his speech almost indecipherable. He replies something like "Kestions. Kestions. Always people want to ask me kestions. Well I had enough kestions!!!" and chases the guy off, maybe punches him out, not sure.

That's all I can remember, really. For all these years, I always thought it was an episode of Greatest American Hero. I've had the DVD box set since it came out about five or six years ago, but I never watched it. Finally a few days ago I decided that I would go in and find that episode. I sped through all three seasons, but it wasn't there. Unless I fast forwarded past it without noticing...

Anyway, just hoping for a miracle that someone out there knows which episode I'm talking about. Maybe it was actually Knight Rider or something?

Hey.

The episode you're referring to is 'Fire Man'.

From Season 1.

Hope this helps.

Wait a minute... who am I here?

Yeah, I would agree with that. From www.tv.com -

"Tony is hired to repossess cars, and unknowingly takes a car filled with arson equipment. He gets pulled over, and blamed for setting fires. The real arsonist must be found in order to clear his name, and free him from jail."

I don't remember seeing that episode, but it seems likely to be the right one.

Yep, that was the one! All this time I thought that scene was at the very beginning, but it's in the middle. I guess that's how I missed it on the DVD. Funny, the guy's accent doesn't sound all that weird to me now. Just Cajun, I think. Anyway, thanks!
