Operation Spoilsport

Probably my favorite episode of the series! What really pissed me off was when I bought the DVD series a few years back, they edited out the Joey Scarbury version of Eve of Destruction that played throughout the ep. They inserted some crappy generic 80's sounding song about the end of the world. That was one of the best parts!

Agree 1000%.

And it's also my favorite episode.

That song was the show. I hate the song they stuck in instead and I think it ruins the whole show. I can't figure out how the rights could be so hard to buy since it wasn't by a whole bunch of different people.

I don't believe they even tried...

In the STAR TREK ep "City on The Edge of Forever" also has a like problem as the music from that era isn't on the VHS copy as it is on the broadcast.
I don't know about later VHS/DVDs

Yeah, that was noticeable to me, too. When I got the DVDs, I was looking forward to hearing that song in it. Didn't they change some of the other songs, too?

reply

I totally agree. When I bought this that was the first episode I watched. I was thinking "what the hell? where is "Eve of Destruction?"

I think laws need to be changed. Most shows that have had to endure these music replacements are older, due to the fact no one anticipated that one day whole television programs would be sold...I think they should allow all programs produced before a certain date be able to distribute the original copyrighted material one time.
