Who is the performer of Santa Claus is Coming to Town on the soundtrack?

A great soul/disco version of Santa Claus is Coming to Town is being played at the staff party at Harry's work. It plays until someone who's had too much to drink bounces the needle of the record. Who can please, please tell me the name of the (female) artist who recorded this version of Santa Clause is Coming to Town? End titles do not list the songs I am afraid. Many thanks in advance!

Bumping my post of last year. Hoping that, now everyone has somehow seen this film, some of the American viewers perhaps can tell me whose version of You Better Watch Out on the soundtrack that is over at the party (it's there for a little under one minute). Hope someone knows, it would be much appreciated. It's a sort of disco-funked up performance of the old song. Could it be Mary Love Comer perhaps? Thanks, Carlo

i know there's a james brown (R.I.P.) christmas tune somewhere during the party scene featuring lyrics about santa claus - although it seems you're looking for one sung by a female (can't recall that in the film.) if it is the J.B. tune, you might find it on the "james brown's funky christmas" album. hope that helps some.

i know that they play almost the entire phil spector christmas album in that movie. i am almost positive the version of santa claus is coming to town is from that album (i haven't watcvhed the movie all that recently). the group is the crystals. i would start there if i were you. it is a really really good christmas album anyway, easily my favorite.

The version of "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" that the original performer refers to is NOT the Phil Spector-produced Crystals version. It is a very 70's, "funked up" disco version played briefly during one of the party scenes. I would love to find this as well, as it sounds pretty fierce.

This version was also used in Disney's CHRISTMAS STAR (1986) as the opening song. I think it's the best and really gets you going.

I tried searching Discogs.com for this, and found two possibilities in singles:

Mistletoe Disco Band, The - Jingle Bells / Santa Claus Is Coming To Town
Mistletoe Records · MLS-807 · 7", Single · 1978 · US
and
Santa's Disco Band / Mary Love - Santa Claus Is Coming To Town Disco / Joy
Magic Disc Records · MDS-215 · 7" · 1977 · US

Mistletoe Disco Band can be found here:

It doesn't sound like either of those, but the Santa's Disco Band version is good and funky.

Anyway, the party scene with that track is about 39:40 into the film.
