i just watched down to earth on turner classic movies.
xanadu is far better. even the great rita hayworth and the wonderful james gleason can't save the absolute drek which is down to earth.
xanadu on the other hand has great tunes and is entertaining.
is something wrong with me if i'm watching it now and agree? is this a gem or just an entertaining artistic failure? the dialogue and acting is clunky, and the story is ridiculous, but the music is pleasant.
Wow: 48 minutes later, it's just unbearable crazy garishness, and I'm waiting for it to end. No plot, too much crappy dancing and ugly costumes, the inane lights and gods. OMG. The "Dancin'" number is a GREAT song, though. Pleasant music but it just can't be watched.
