Who could be cast in a remake?

Well I heard the play's been succesful and the Hairspray movie did great at the box office and with the critics so I don't see why a Xanadu remake why they wouldn't consider remaking the stage play in the future. If I cast the remake, however, I would cast:
-Paris Hilton as Kira("I can't date you, Sonny, 'cause I'm so hot, and I'm a muse")
-Ashton Kutcher as Sonny("Dammit Kira, I love you: date me already, man!")
-Hugh Hefner as Danny("Hey Kira, you're hot!")

And that's about it.

I call movies that are considered 'bad' hated movies.

It was actually based partially on "Down To Earth" which Chris Rock remade, and the Muse was Rita Hayworth. Gene Kelly had starred with Hayworth in "Cover Girl". Both were based on the Greek Muse Terpsichore, which ruled over dance and chorus. The movie was also based on Edith Hamilton's writings on Greek Mythology.

I'd love to see the basic storyline deconstructed to the basics (immortal and mortal fall in love) and have it be a radically different type of movie where you're not comparing "Xanadu" to it.

It should still be a musical, even having Olivia in it as a cameo.

There's only one person who would be able to pull it off:
Baz Luhrmann.

The music would also be different. Would they go rock, hip-hop, salsa?
It would have to be someone who's been singing and acting. The age of the muse can go 20-40...you could throw all sorts of names in there... Beyonce.. J-Lo, Christina Aguilera, Alicia Keys, Jessica Simpson
Sonny - Ewan McGregor, Hugh Jackman, Jack Black, Jared Leto.
Danny - Christopher Walken,Antonio Banderas, Jamie Foxx, Tony Bennett, Willie Nelson (could go in a country direction, why not)

Kira: Amanda Bynes, Amanda Seyfried, Hayden Panettiere, or Ashley Tisdale
Sonny: Michael Cera, Brandon Routh, Topher Grace, or Shawn Ashmore
Danny: Philip Seymour Hoffmann, Fred Willard, Matthew Broderick, or Scott Baio

Kira: Kristen Bell, Kristen Kreuk, Willa Holland, Taylor Swift or Zooey Deschannel.
Sonny: Jake Gyllenhaal or Mark Walhberg.
Dannny: Bill Murray or Tom Hanks.

Personally I would love the Broadway cast to get a chance to film their version. The entire group is so enthusiastic and likeable that I think the film would have broad appeal.

Baz Luhrmann would do an amazing job with a remake! Cool idea! For me, Olivia is hard to replace, I’ll have to think about that. But I'd like to see James Marsden as Sonny. He sings and dances, he probably rollerskates too!

I would love to see my girl Kristen Bell as Kira and my husband-to-be Cheyenne Jackson as Sonny. :)

Taye Diggs as Sonny

Ben Vereen as Danny McGuire

Morgan Freeman and Patti LaBelle as Zeus and Hera

Vanessa Williams as Sonny's mean boss (doesn't have to be a man)

Lok at the remakes they've made so far - they've bastardized start trek, transformers, year without a santa cluas, are in the middle of turning "Oh God" into a gay flick.....

And you morons want them to remake xanadu & rape the story completely?

See as it's been a Broadway musical just recently.

The most interesting thing about this and according to the Wikipedia, it's story focis on the other Muses and how some of them are infighting with each other.

I think thats a interesting way to take the story.

They could do anothe mroive this way and still not ruin the original.

Effectively they could do eight other movie for the other Muses.

I still like the original, though.

I could see that. I could see several of the girls
mentioned in this thread to be the other muses.
Zooey, Hayden, Kristen, Ashley either appearing as
Kara or one of her sisters either trying to break
her up with Sonny or helping her.
