Had Andy Gibb starred???
Had Andy Gibb starred instead of Michael Beck i wonder if any of the soundtrack would have been different and whether he would have sung on it?I can picture him and Olivia singing Suddenly together.

shareWith all do respect to ELO and Cliff Richard (Suddenly), the sound track would've sounded like The Bee Gees...because they were his brothers.
Sorry, but there is NO comparison to Andy Gibb and Cliff Richard-two different animals (not even comparing oranges to tangerines). Cliff Richard is still rockin' at the age of 70 and will probably be on another tour in 2012. Just go to his website as proof.

Andy Gibb was originally thought of for the role for Sonny Malone before Michael Beck, the producers must of had in mind that had Andy played the part of Sonny or been any part of Xanadu it would have been because he could sing.I don't know what really happened but Andy Gibb had a lot of personal demons and probably would have been a big risk in a movie that was always going to be a big risk to start with,i do think though he would have been a better choice of Sonny than Michael Beck whether he did sing or not.
Anyway it didn't happen,i doubt whether any of the ELO content would have changed even had Andy Gibb did the movie, the only song that may have changed would have been Suddenly,i would have been interested hearing Gibb sing it while he was skating through the movie set with Olivia,i'm not saying Cliff Richard was a bad choice but i would be interested in hearing Andy Gibbs interpretation of the song.
I agree with you there. As much I found Michael Beck's acting incompetent and that Andy Gibb may be an improvement (who knows), the Bee Gees might be replacing ELO and possibly The Tubes if Andy Gibb got the role. It would be a shame that those great ELO songs don't exist. As for 'Suddenly', thank you Cliff Richard.
