She disappeared from the media

After the Xanadu fiasco, Olivia disappeared from the media. She made one movie 3 years later and then spent 7 years without doing anything. Now she participates in little productions that nobody cares about. What I mean is this: One bad career move can destroy you.

Education leads you through life to hate what should be hated and love what should be loved.

You're kidding right??

After the "Xanadu fiasco" (which BTW has developed into a cult classic), she released (in 1981) a HUGE hit album/song titled "Physical," and toured for over a year in support of it. Perhaps you've heard of it? This is most likely what would account for the 3 year gap between Xanadu and Two Of A Kind.

And it's not like she became box office poison after Xanadu...while Two Of A Kind may have been a major flop, it was a major studio release.

Hardly what I would call disappearing from the media.

And, during those 7 years where she "did nothing," she DID release 3 albums, gave birth to her daughter Chloe, and served as Goodwill Ambassador to the United Nations Environment Programme.

Not exactly "nothing" wouldn't you agree?

And if memory serves, her "disappearance from the media" was self-imposed, because she was sick of "the machine." She went back to Australia, lived her life, raised a family, has remained quite successful in various ventures over the years, and is a well-known advocate for breast cancer research.

So Mr. Self Righteous, it would seem that "one bad career move" has done anything but destroy her...

She also opened Koala Blue, a chain of boutiques, and spent quite a bit of energy in it. I recall her visiting Florida in a store opening. I think she still keeps interest in it, although it has completely changed focus (no longer a boutique).

The lady is multi-talented. it is easy to throw stones at someone pushing their personal boundaries. If my career were public, I'm sure they'd have plenty of observations about my low points too.

She has also toured, and has done several duets with Sir Cliff Richard (who sings Suddenly) in the film.

Er..Um..After "Xanadu," Olivia released in 1981,her album "Physical." The single of the same name peaked at #1 for 10 weeks, and Billboard Magazine ranks it as the top charting single of the entire 1980's. The second single off the same album, "Make a move on me" was a top five charting hit. The album also was a top ten hit and sold over 4 million copies. She recorded a video for every song on the album, and the ABC TV Network aired it as a special titled "Olivia: Let's get Physical" where it attracted 35% of the US viewing audience and was #10 for the week in the Nielson ratings! It also won a Grammy for "Video of the year" and was released on home video and sold tons of copies! In 1982, Olivia released a greatest hits album, featuring a new song, "Heart Attack" that was a top 5 smash! The album also sold over 3 million copies. The movie "Two of a kind" in 1983 bombed, but the soundtrack album sold a million copies, and the single, Twist of fate," was another top 5 smash. And in 1985, Olivia released "Soul Kiss." The single released of the same name was a top 20 hit, and the album certified gold. So, um, NO, Olivia didn't "disappear from the Media" after "Xanadu." She remained the most popular female pop star for many years after.. FYI, "Xanadu" the movie might have bombed, but the soundtrack was a worldwide success giving her a four week #1 hit, "Magic", and two other hits..ELO scored 3 hits as well. The Soundtrack peaked at #4 in the US and sold 4 million copies. Why would the original poster post such a false, un-researched thread? Really dumb.
