Perhaps the Best 'Bad' Film in History

This film had Gene Kelly, ONJ (absolutely, stunningly gorgeous), and some of the best choreographed dancing in a film since the 1950's. The acting was a bit rough in places but the overall imagery was fantasic.

The film didn't appeal to the liberal Hollyweird crowd who dominated the industry by that time, and the reviews matched, but the film was truly a pleasure to classic film buffs, Kelly buffs, and certainly to fans of ONJ. Nearly all of the reviews posted by individuals on websites, such as this one, are from people who have never seen the film.....

Remember When Movies Didn't Have To Be Politically Correct?

So conservatives--maybe-- liked the movie? I doubt anyone did. It's ok --I guess-- now to watch this as a curiosity piece. But in 1980 paying to see this must have been pretty disappointing. Yes it's better than "Can't stop the music" -similar ilk--but not much.

Yeah, I'm not sure what political philosophies have to do with this. Are Greek muses supposed to be conservative? ONJ with Flash Gordon special effects lighting outlining her? That's conservative? Huh? And some of those dancers, with the black leather outfits? What?

If anything, I'd imagine that the Rocky Horror types would flock to this movie because of all that strangeness.

I'm not really a fan of that schlock. I just like some of those ONJ and ELO songs, and ONJ is very easy on the eyes.

I love the movie, saw it in theaters, I wish Shania Twain had played Kira in a remake.
