I heard it is sort of a sequel to a gene Kelly movie from the forties? They should make a new sequel now!

Gene Kelly played Danny McGuire in the 1944 film CoverGirl.

I believe that this a remake. (a VERY poor one) of a movie called "Down to Earth" one of the two "Mr. Jordan" films made.
