I remember seeing a movie a long while ago where a family moves into a big country house...but it wasn't exactly in the woods, it was more in a field. Anyway, when they first go in, the main character, a young girl, sees a ghost which resembled a clown; to me anyway. Then a few seconds later, his head turns transparent and gets really big on the screen to scare us. Was this is the movie? thanks in advance.

No - they do move to an isolated country house, but there is no field, and there is no ghost that resembles a clown (and gets big on the screen). It must be a different movie.

Not 100% about this but that sounds kind of like a movie called The Haunting Of Barney Palmer. It's a young boy i think and he sees a creepy old time entertainer in the mirror whose face begins to grow really long.
