Where was that truck going?

In the scene where their horses get spooked and the truck crashes over the edge by the bridge, where was he going? I mean, their little car barely fit on that bridge, there was no way that truck would have made it over a flimsy bridge like that. I don't know why they even through that truck in the scene. They didn't even bother to worry about the driver or anything.

I think the driver was okay, they showed him getting out of the truck before cutting to the next scene.

Based on the size of the bridge, I think it was just a foot bridge for pedestrians. The truck was going to drive through the water, but was distracted by the horse. I don't recall the family ever driving over that bridge. I don't think they did.
