Steve Strange

I couldn't find any trivia note on this, but why does the movie have a character named Steve Strange and also an actor named Steve Strange (who plays Sam Strange)? I couldn't find any evidence of this being a real person. I know a couple of other people (like Mickey Gilley) play themselves.

The only Steve Strange I heard of is the London nightclubber and DJ who was on the scene in the new wave '80s. Can't see this guy making a cameo in THIS flick though. He wore lipstick!

Steve Strange was Gilley's bullmaster. He ran the mechanical bull at the club, and was played by James Gammon in the movie. He was given a cameo part in the movie as a fictional character named "Sam Strange".

The screenwriter Aaron Latham cribbed one of Steve Strange's lines for the movie, and has Scott Glenn say something to a female rider about, "Anything gets sore, I'll be glad to kiss it and make it feel better."

Ahhhh...so THAT'S why Steve (James Gammon) says "Give 'em a ride, Sam"...he was the actual guy who ran the bull IRL.
