Lone Star Beer

Still the best in my opinion (out of the low cost brews).

Anyone else out there like it?

Sure. It comes and goes up here in the Chicagoland area but I pick it up whenever I see it. I guy I work with who is originally from Texas always turns his nose up when I mention it but it has gained a reputation as a "budget beer" over the years. A lot of these beers are coming back and trying them now in bottles they're not bad. Been drinking PBR from time to time too. I like my craft beer but when you're kickin' up your boots to put on a movie like Urban Cowboy a cold Lone Star'll put you in the right mind. : )

That's interesting about the Chicago area having Lone Star from time to time. I live in Texas (actually about 20 minutes from where Gilley's used to be) so it's pretty plentiful. When traveling to the San Antonio area it's pretty much everywhere (even on tap).

I agree with you about craft beers, but it is a great beer for drinking while watching this movie or really after mowing grass after a hot day (my favorite for that).

PBR is really good too although it's not quite as common in these parts. It's regularly available but a little limited depending on the grocery stores (very rarely in restaurants).

Interested in your screen name. Do you have a Mopar? I have a '68 Buick Skylark and a '72 Corvette...

Oh, man. No I don't have a Mopar. That is my name because one of my favorite movies of all-time is Vanishing Point. I'm 29 and I dream of driving one of those cars some day. My dream car is a 1970 Dodge Challenger (383/440/426). I'm glad that you recognized that though. The closest that I have come to driving a true performance car was when I owned a 2005 GTO with a 6.0. Cool car but not a true muscle. I could die happy just to drive any old muscle car. I work a factory job so it's hard to save up but I hope one day to own one.

In the mid '90s I passed up buying a '71 Challenger R/T with a 440/4 with an automatic. It was yellow with the black R/T stripes and black interior. Far from mint condition (it ran good though) but I was a poor college student and didn't want to go that much into debt. The guy was asking $10k for it and now properly restored it would be much more than that. Oh well...

Just keep pursuing your dream and eventually you'll get one. There are cheaper alternatives like a '73 or '74 Challenger. You'd have to transplant a 440 or something into them though as I think the biggest engine available in those years was the 340 or 360...

That '05 GTO is definitely a nice car.

You'll never believe this, fellow Tejan, but I've lived 50 years in DFW and have never had so much as a sip of Lone Star! I guess because when I was young, folks would say "tastes like piss!". These days, however, I've found myself drinking Miller High Life for budgetary reasons, so maybe Lone Star might be an alternative.

Lone Star is definitely better than most cheap beers tbh

"Lone Star. That beer loves to party."

Sometime around 1980, my family was into country music. Call it a phase. Anyway, my sister planned a country party in our back yard. She invited a local band there, and lots of friends from the local country scene. My dad bought like 25 cases of Lone Star beer, as well as Burgie beer. We also bought a ton of chili and crackers. It was crazy! After the party was over, we still had 20 cases of beer in the backyard, and lots of chili and crackers left in the fridge. Mom was a beer drinker, and she would drink the beer sometimes, but most of the time, she bought her Coors Light.
