One line sums up the whole film

"I apologize clear back to the first time I hit you."

Yea, that's this movie in a nutshell.

I love you, sissy

The way Winger says "Im gonna ride that bull" when she's laying down in bed. That line always cracks me up. Like everyone is obsessed with this mechanical bull at Gilleys for some reason.

Back in 1980 here in TN people were obsessed with riding mechanical bulls in bars.

I grew up on a cattle farm, so the concept held no interest for me. Plus those bars always played country music. Yuck. So yeah, I totally get her obsession since I knew people like that in TN. Didn't they have a Gilley's in TN or something like it? I met the dude at a party one time and a friend bragged about bagging him.

Well, he was a hard-headed country dude from the farm. Plus, he was a Texan! Don't mess with a Texan, from what i hear. It was interesting that Debra Winger got the part of playing "Sissy", as the role first was going to, ironically, Sissy Spacek. For some reason, she had a falling out with Travolta. I wonder what happened. Maybe he hit her?? Art sometimes mimics life, and vice versa.

When this movie came out, many bars and restaurants put in mechanical bulls...only to remove them after drunks broke their backs, ect...

Also, only a 6.2 ?...I'm no Urban Cowboy, but I think it deserves a higher score...

Oh, wow. I can totally see Sissy Spacek in this role, but glad Debra Winger ended up with it!
