Could anyone tell me if this movie is worth watching for a slasher fan? How does this movie compare to Prom Night.

On the whole, yes - it is worth viewing. Some of the deaths are pretty grisly (one victim doesn't even make it onto the train) and the legendary Jamie Lee Curtis screams at the top of her lungs in a few scenes. It is a bit predictable, but for a 1979/1980 slasher film, it has its moments. Rent it on DVD first, then see if it is a worthwhile addition to your collection. I held onto my long-out-of-print VHS video copy for a long long time until the DVD came out last year.

Both movies lacks in gore, I think. Terror Train is a little more suspenseful and true to the formula, while Prom Night is a quite boring teen movie, in my opinion.
