Terror Train was directed by Roger Spottiswoode. He came up with doing the same thing Halloween (1978) did, but this time it would be on a train.. He even casted screamqueen Jamie Lee Curtis...
A college fraternaty prank goes bad and student ends up in the mental ward. Four years later, it's graduation time, and the members of the fraternity decide to have a costume party aboard a train trip to celebrate thier graduation. Unknowingly to them, a killer has slipped aboard, wacking them off one by one, disguised in the costumes of the victims.
Terror Train is, although it has a lack of gore, a very entertaining and decently made slasher film. Because of the lack of gore the kills are a bit disappointing. Luckily enough there is a cool killer who continually changes his outfit by killing the party animals and put on their's.
The setting is very good. The black steam train which rumbles through the icy and cold landscape is just purely awsome and at times very claustrophobic. The confrontations between Jamie Lee Curtis and the killer are cool to and even are a bit suspenceful.
Unfortunately the film is a bit tame en by the time it realy gets exciting it's already a bit to late. Luckily enough it never gets boring because of the magician who gets a lot of screen time and performs a lot of awesome tricks.
