The guy got stabbed with one of the same sabers that was used to kill the magician. Alana nailed him in the lower back; must have hurt as hell if not maimed him. Then she inserts the WHOLE paper spike inside his head, there's blood on it all! And she pushes him off the train... but he manages to hang on, climb back, move along the train (we see his face at the window). Later on, at their final meeting, when he holds her hands, he seems in perfect condition! He even twirls like a ballerina. Kenny isn't supposed to be a supernatural creature like Michael Myers and Jason.

Also, they cheated: the actor's voice was dubbed when he was the magician's assistant.

Yeah he took quite a beating but kept on coming. You're right, he wasn't supposed to be supernatural but seemed to be near invincible.
