I was a bit confused whether he was that magician's assistant or that it was a female actor taking on that role.
Then I Google Derek McKinnon who played Kenny and saw he was dressed as a woman in 2012.
Or that he was trans or something.

Hi, he in fact is a transsexual. He is a Canadian actor as most of the actors in the film were, b/c back then making films in Canada were less expensive than the U.S. There are also interviews with him on the internet as well he talks about his sexuality. He does a lot of transvestite shows and things like that in Canada. I believe him being a transsexual in real life lended to his role in the film as where he really fooled everybody with his reveal at the end. I still think the Groucho mask & costume are up there with the most disturbing horror masks & killers !!!!!
shareYes, Derreck is a transsexual or at least homosexual. I did meet him for an autograph signing a few years ago in Baltimore at the Monster Mania Convention. He does look quite femine if you know what I mean. He is very tall (around 6' or 6'1") still has a slim figure, and he was wearing a turtleneck sweater with a man's sports jacket and dark slacks. He has short grey hair (but I'm pretty sure it was a wig or hair transplant). He claims he crew up in rural Nova Scotia and acts mostly on stage rather that in film. A nice guy, or whatever gender he is currently.

That's what I wondered too. Although some transsexuals who feel they were born in the wrong body do continue to live in the gender they were born as and never transition. I know one from 30 years ago who told me he/she felt like a female, identifies as a transsexual, but still lives as a male.
