The movie has a lot of cheesy stuff in it and a few nonsensical parts, but this is a great superhero film. In some respects it surpasses the original, a classic in its own right. I know I'm not alone in this sentiment. I'm curious, why do you think it's IMDB rating is under 7?
, it's my favorite and I feel the best superhero film ever produced. Both the Lester and the Donner versions. It should be at least 8.8 (two full points higher than its IMDb rating).

There's been a steady ratings decline since the release of the awful "Donner cut."
A re-mastered original Superman II (1981) would be light years better and show young people the brilliant film audiences saw in the theater back in 1981.
One may admire Donner for his work on the 1978 film, while admitting he really screwed up Superman II with his hatchet job in 2006. Shades of George Lucas and "Star Wars: Special Edition."
In some ways I think it has to do with the fact, that since the early 2000s we've had more Superhero films coming out that are more fast paced and less goofy. I am not knocking Superman 2. In fact, it's a favorite movie of mine that I'd give an 8/10 to. But I can see younger people born in the late 90s or later preferring the later Superhero movies of the early 2000s more.

shareUm..that's your opinion. I liked the Chris Nolan ones best. Jack's Joker was too much like the Shining. Heath's Joker was so so good & very unique to me. I just like that movie version the best. But the original Superman is better than the remake to me. That helicopter rescue was so epic & timeless.
