He was so charming, breathless and boyish. What has been decried as poor acting actually comes across as a perfect job of showing naive incredulousness, and lovestruck awe at what he has done. Absolutely no artifice. Refreshing.

It is even more tragic when you think of what happened to him in real life. Hard to imagine someone so virile and guileless meeting such a sad end,

Very much what went on in my head as I watched this. His cheekbones reminded me of Benedict Cumberbach, but there will always be only one Christopher Reeve. I've had a crush on him since the early 80s.
