I am planning my return to Mack island and I never had a chance to swim the lake because the whether turned very cold, hopefully it will be a great whether to swim but first, does anyone know if anyone is allowed to swim in the lake?
shareThere is no law against it, but most of the shoreline on Mackinac Island is very rocky, covered with sharp-edged gravel, so while you can swim, your feet will probably get very sore doing it.
There are a couple of small sandy beach areas but few and far between.

shareLake Huron has over 3,800 miles of shoreline. Just about everytown is in a budget crunch; laying off law enforcement as a result. How did you think you would be prevented from swimming in Lake Huron?

shareIn the summertime (June to mid-September), Lake Huron is usually pretty warm and comfortable for swimming. Lake Michigan (on the western side of the bridge) has some very nice sandy swimming beaches about 10 miles to the west along US-2.
It is Lake Superior, about 60 miles to the north of St. Ignace, which is absolutely freezing all year long.
