American Dad Parody of Somewhere in Time

I am sure it may have been brought up before, but I checked all the message board and didn't see a topic....

For you Somewhere in Time fans who enjoy animation parodies, American Dad uses this film as a plot device for the Season 6 episode "Fartbreak Hotel." After the Smith family checks into a hotel, the son Steve becomes infatuated with a Patrick Nagel painting of a girl on the hotel's wall. Part-time actor, Hector Elizondo, who only acts to support his concierge passion, is the very concierge at the hotel. He informs Steve that the painting was done in that very hotel over 25 years ago, and Steve can travel back to meet his dream girl through self-suggestion. I won't give the rest away, because it is fun to watch with countless nods to the film, and especially how everything is resolved. For me, American Dad started as a low quality written show, but has evolved into a strongly written black-humor absurdity. It is really good, and fans of "Somewhere in Time" may enjoy the many references in this episode to the movie.

Sadly, only one other person I watched this episode with got the reference (I watched with 10 people as we were partying in a hotel room before a concert). Even Wikipedia does not reference the movie on the American Dad's episode page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fart-Break_Hotel. Conversely, most Wikipedia pages list cultural references on their entries, and at the time of this writing Somewhere in Time says nothing about the American Dad parody.

It's a shame that more people didn't get this brilliant reference. Even in a popular review of the episode, Jason Hughes of the TV Squad wrote, "The side story featuring Steve traveling back to 1981 was clever, if not terribly original. It seemed to have elements of Hot Tub Time Machine and Back to the Future and probably some others I'm not remembering." Shame he didn't get the overwhelming homage to Somewhere in Time, but we all do.
