Goodfellas- Scorsese's most technical film. A story suited for him. Similar to Mean Streets but AFTER he mastered the art. A fast paced, never a bad scene masterpiece. Not just Henry Hill but the Viewer is guided through the Mob for 25 years. Pinnacle of his career.
Taxi Driver- Scorsese and Schrader meet up at a low point in both their lives. One in a massive Drug Addiction, the other a Deep Depression. We see the outcome. Many say that the greatest art can come out of both scenarios and it sure the hell did. A story about Catholic Guilt, Loneliness and the descent into it. A man who wants to be something but can't figure out the world around him. Scorsese really played with the Camera and ut showed. Perfection once again
Raging Bull- Again Scorsese and Schrader team up. Mardik Martin as well. Another character piece but also a period piece. A troubled man who has his life dictate his profession. Again, Machismo and Guilt are layered throughout the film. The study of a very troubled individual. Deeply flawed but somewhat relatable. Technically another score. The camera tells the story beautifully. DeNiro shining, Pesci, Moriarty... Took Scorsese out of his addiction and put him at the Top of American Filmmaking.
All get the highest praise from me. All important for their own reasons

All excellent films but Taxi Driver is my favourite. Acting, writing and directing all top notch throughout. I love Raging Bull but feel it slows down a little once he gets fat.
Marlo Stanfield is NOT a man for this town - Omar Little
I'm really surprised that you didn't love taxi driver. I don't think you hated it which is good but come on! That was perfect method acting! I think it's de niro's best performance. Not his best movie though. I think goodfellas is his best movie, taxi driver and raging bull are equally awesome!
All are 10/10 in my book. I'd say Raging Bull is Scorsese's magnum opus, followed by Taxi Driver and then Goodfellas. Goodfellas is probably the most accessible but Raging Bull is shows Scorsese at the peak of his directorial powers.
