What is so great about this movie?

It is because people like these praise's this film are probably boxers, beaters, and foul mouth people that just love to watch that in other people and in movies. Probably why they would rate any movie as violent and foul mouth kind of thing as this. Probably a lot of jocks that love to come onto boards and tell people their wrong and they are right, and just keep debating like it is there right in life to fight and argue with others on a board. If you like this movie, then you sure like causing problems for other people.

It was put on television and no matter how many times I watch this film, it is that bad. How is punching someone acting? Acting is talking. Acting is not just throwing a fist. Never liked De Niro. He is just one of the ugliest actors alive and would be when he is dead too. I will let you guys love his acting but I won't ever. Anything is better than this long punching movie. Anyone that says vulgar foul language is for adult is backwards. That kind of stuff is childish, not adult.

Should be rated PG for children that can't talk normal without bad mouthing a lot. This is a kiddie movie. Can't believe adults are trying to praise this movie. Just like adults saying PG-13 lame horror movies are better than the rated R and unrated ones. Pretty much most movies on this site is rated backwards.

I agree. The movie is dull and pointless. Pesci is funny in it, that's about it.

depends on what you were looking to find in this movie. i started out thinking i was watching a boxing movie. its not. its not even the best story in a movie, the story kinda sucks, non-existent maybe. the high praise comes from the performances and the directing. if you watch it again and focus on De Niro's acting, trying to find a flaw in his performance or any single moment he feels out of place, out of character then you might re-evaluate.

its not a movie i will watch again, and its not one of my favorite movies, not by a long shot. but the performances are so natural its unnatural. and thats exactly why this movie has this kind of rating. i didnt find it entertaining, this might sound corny but i found this as a piece of art.
