The fight at the end was the only part that diskappointed me...

Popeye eats his Spinach and takes Bluto out with one punch. Then goes and gives the octopus the 'Twisker Sock.'

People have said that that's the way it was in the cartoons, but the truth is that only happened in the ones in the 50's, when budget constraints caused Popeye's cartoons to become hackneyed and a limited running time of 6 minutes.

In the earlier Max Fleischer cartoons of the 30's and the early Famous studios cartoons of the 40's, the cartoons went for 8 minutes and Popeye would spend a minute or two in the climax really working Bluto over.

I would have preferred the post-Spinach fight to go like this;

1) Popeye knocks Bluto away with a punch and goes to rescue Olive from the Octopus, whom he ties his tentacles into knots.

2) Bluto tries to make a get-away but Popeye stops him and Bluto whacks an iron pole over Popeyes head...pulls it back...and its bent in the shape of his head.

3) Bluto then hurls cannonballs at Popeye...who grabs them, juggles them...and hurls them back, clanking off of Bluto's head.

4) Bluto desperately throws a punch at Popeye's face...and pulls back his fist, crumpled up like and playing like an accordion.

5) Popeye then slugs Bluto in the gut, jerks his head up by the beard and lands the Twisker Punch that sends Bluto up in the air.

The movie ends with them all heading back to Sweethaven dancing on Pappy's boat and singing the Popeye song...with a battered and bandaged Bluto in a dinghy tied behind, obediently singing along.

Actually, your idea sounds great. Specially the Pipe scene, and Bluto's fist like an accordion.

Lets hope Disney does a reboot of this and uses your idea. Maybe he can even do a cross over and join the Avengers since eating spinach turns him into a superhero
