You have to love the cartoon to enjoy this movie

Popeye screened at Butt-numb-a-thon in Austin on December 7, 2013. It was a very old print (it looked pretty bad) but they served us all warm spinach during the screening which was funny and made the whole experience kind of festive. Not too much can be said about this movie that hasn't been said before, but I realized while watching it at a much older age and as a father, that anyone who didn't love the cartoon must just think this movie is completely ridiculous. From Robin Williams obviously ADR's muttering throughout (right in line with the cartoons) and the fanciful set design that feels very Tim Burton-esque, this is certain not a movie for everyone and I get why so many didn't like it when it came out. Will I be watching it again any time soon? No. But watching it with the audience at BNAT was definitely a treat!
