Spinach scene was awful

They could of made that ending fight soooooo much better. I looked forward to that scene the whole movie.

It happened quick and fast like the Popeye cartoon.

What, when Bluto force feeds the spinach to Popeye? I thought that was funny. The whole joke was that Popeye didn't like spinach and when Bluto force fed it to him, it gave him strength so he realized he was wrong to feel that way. It is like an origin story of how he came to like spinach.

I thought that scene worked out pretty good. You get a large fist take him out, then he goes and takes out a monster octopus. I thought that was a decent live action take on the spinach affect.

I read that they actually blew up the octopus to make it look like it was punched out into space. You can't tell though.

There is a shot from far away that shows a big cloud of smoke and a grey thing/the octopus being thrown high in the air.

It was pretty anti-climatic. If rumors are true about a three hour cut at paramount, there might have been some footage left out, but I doubt it. The film could've used some better edits or a script rewrite overall.

The problem is, they used real spinach. They should have used cartoon spinach.
