I bought this at walmart for $5 and watched it for the first time since I saw as a kid in the 80's. Even though it's a PG movie, I'm surprised at the amount of curse words in this movie being that it's based on a kid's cartoon.

The one that surprised me was Popeye yelling "oh sh!t!" as he dives off the boat.

Poop-Deck Pappy says "Haul-Ass" like 50 times in about 3 minutes.

If you listen closely to Popeye's mutterings, you'll hear all kinds of things you haven't noticed. I mean I have been watching this film since 1980 and it wasn't until today that I noticed in the racetrack scene while Popeye is holding Sea'Pea and while Olive is trying to get him to tell her which horse to bet on, he says, "One day you could be president, unless you're a Republican." Robin putting his own views into his character. I can't say I'm mad at him for adding that though.

Of course Popeye would cuss in real life. After all, he is a sailor. Haven't you ever heard the term, "Cussing like a sailor"?

I only heard one swear word, Popeye saying *beep* as he jumps into the water to save somebody.

Swearing and a bordello scene, too! Floozies in floozie dresses whooping it up with the menfolk while people gamble!

Olive Oyl singing about Bluto's endowment!

This is one bizarre kiddie/family movie!!!

I did here "damn" and "hell" a couple times, but that is tame compared to Family Guy (especially if you get the DVD sets). I did here one use of the "S-word", but it was when Popeye jumped in the water to help save the Oyls, and friends near end of movie. And it was done in a way where you could tell the kids he said something else like "Sheepdip".

Why would you compare it to Family Guy?!
It's just such a random and odd thing to say.
It's like saying Popeye doesn't have a lot of cursing compared to Goodfellas.

Popeye is a Disney family movie for kids.
Family Guy and Goodfellas are ADULT entertainment.
