Can we get a theories thread going?

I always thought there was alot going in this movie,but it always left me with some unanswered questions:

Why did the dead rise the *moment* Ft.Thomas hung himself?

What was going on in the Thomas family tomb? Were they cult worshipers or something? That tomb went on for miles!

Maybe all these weird things going on had something to do the cursed
land they lived on since they were distant relatives of Salem witch burners?

Mary and Peter talked about a man named De Niro who knew the future.Who was he?

Was it only the bodies of the recently dead that came back to life? The only corpses we see walking around for the bulk of the movie are Emily,vomit girl,Bob and vomit girl's bf,and the old lady,until the end of the movie we see all sorts of creeps walking.

So closing the gates meant to kill Father Thomas?

Do you think the ending was anticlimactic? Even if it was an editing error,what do you think was happening?

I know this movie wasnt meant to be taken seriously but what do you guys think?
