Who was the punk band?
It seemed that that was a real punk band, anyone recognise them?

This is interesting as that is exactly who I thought the band was, if that is so then Darby Crash must have od'd soon after that was filmed (he died from a herion OD in 1980 the day before John Lennon died). Uggh I dunno if I can stand to put that DVD back in to check out that scene again though...

Pointed Sticks. I'm sure you can get them on Amazon. Very infectious new wave/power pop. Get it. If not, message me and I can send it over AIM.
shareThe Band in question was (and is still, remarkably) Vancouver"s the Pointed Sticks. The band"s drummer in the movie, by name of Ken Montgomery, is deceased. He was a great guy, I remember him well. The Pointed Sticks are well represented on the web should you require more information on them. Just enter their name with google and go from there. They have just returned from a tour of Japan where they have a good fan base. A Canadian tour is currentlu underway and there is talk of a new album. There have been some personell changes over the years, but i believe the current line-up matches the original band accurately. They are all in their mid to late 40's now.
shareThey actually broke up in the early 80's (possibly even 1980) and just reformed in the summer of 2006 for their Japanese tour. Aside from that, they played two shows in January in Vancouver, and are playing a show or two at a powerpop festival in New York in Spring I believe. I don't know where the touring rumour came from.
shareI was wondering who the band was, thanks for the info; I was also wondering where they filmed this and I assume it was Vancouver? The band wasn't bad, but in the recording, I think the keyboards were a little too loud/out-blasted the guitar, and nobody wants the guitar to be over-shadowed by a damn synth!
"Now, I know I'm pretty, but I ain't as pretty as a coupla titties!"
No offence to fans but they sucked in this movie. Awful.
"I've Got The Answers To The Tangled Knot, Sleep Tight In Your Cot"
They showed this movie at the Vancity theater this weekend as a tribute to Dennis Hopper in a new 35mm print and the Pointed Sticks actually played a couple songs for the first showing. Didn't get to see that showing but its pretty cool.
