In YOU NEVER CAN TELL from the fifties, a dog is poisoned by somebody, and he comes back as a human to solve his own murder. I believe he had a horse sidekick who assists him as a hot human chick. They need to release that movie on DVD.

Thanks for the tip. I shall seek out "You Can Never Tell," though it looks fairly obscure. This film definitely feels like a throwback to an earlier era, even for a 1980 movie.
What kind of dog dId they use in "You Can Never Tell"? I thought Benji was delightful here. Love that button nose!
If I recall, it might have been a german shepard. I have a bootleg copy somewhere, I'll take a look and get back to you.
