The teacher and Linderman

When the teacher asked Linderman if he had a pass, and he gave it to her, she looked at it and said, "You do have a pass." I always was unsure of her tone. Was she hoping that he would not have one so she could tell him to leave? Or just surprised that he did have one?

I think surprised he already had one? or maybe just confirming.

she asked "do you have a pass?"
linderman hands her the pass and the teacher says "you do have a pass, thank you"

reply

That's what I mean. To me, she seemed a little surprised that he did have a pass. Or almost as if she were hoping he didn't so she could tell him to leave.

reply

good question...could be either..considering Linderman's alleged reputation

reply

I think she sounded like that because he didn't reply. He simply handed her the note. My guess is she felt a little uncomfortable. Not too mention that Linderman's presence alone is rather overwhelming.

Don't look too much into this one (over analyze)
